The Sabres won last night, 4-2, over Montreal. They played another strong game, with good special teams. This is their third win in a row. Hopefully they've turned the corner. I watched most of the game but alternated with my secret vice: What Not to Wear. I just love that show.
Today we're going to my sister Karen and her husband Tom's house for Thanksgiving dinner. They have a large dining room and we can usually squeeze everybody around the table. The operative word here is squeeze, as it's getting to be quite a challenge. We're up to about 25 people in our extended family although not everybody is able to make it, due to work schedules.
A couple of years ago, Dad suggested we get together just once, at either Thanksgiving or Christmas, as the cost of gas, etc., was making the holidays too expensive. My son Jake (bless his heart) said he would rather economize elsewhere in order to continue our traditions, so we still get together at both holidays.

My first post
It's the day after Thanksgiving. I'm listening to Christmas music, getting ready for our big extended family get together tomorrow, and surfing the web. I enjoy reading other blogs and thought I'd start one myself.
I have a wide range of interests, from the Civil War, to art history, to sports, to quilting. My family is the most important thing to me. I'm a wife, a mother and a grandmother (five times!). I work for a local HMO in their IT department and mostly enjoy my job. I love to travel, do genealogy, and read. I'm currently reading "Soldiers and Ghosts: A History of Battle in Classical Antiquity"
I don't care to cook or grocery shop but luckily have been blessed with a hubby who does. Stupid people annoy me. I'm a registered Democrat. I haven't been to church in years but still put Roman Catholic on medical forms.
I'm not sure what form this blog will take as time goes by, I guess I'll see!
