I can't believe I wrote one blog entry in 2009. Of course, there wasn't much to write about. I lost my job in July when the company I worked for decided to outsource their IT department. The Bills had yet another forgettable season, however they did fire the coach mid season and have since hired a new GM. I found another job in December, it's a six month temp to perm but hopefully they'll decide to hire me.
I did lose the weight I wanted, which brought my blood pressure and cholesterol down. I put about 10 pounds back on while I was laid off but should be able to lose that now I'm not home all day. I joined a gym three months ago. I'm not very good about going but have managed workouts about twice a week. I'm doing about 30 minutes of resistance training an about 30 minutes of cardio for each session.

Buffalo Bills

This year the Bills are celebrating their 50th anniversary. I got Mom and Dad 50th anniversary T-shirts from The Sports Authority. I also got one for myself.
Mom and I are going to Canton, Ohio, in August, for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and football game. Bruce Smith and Ralph Wilson Jr are getting inducted. When I read the news several months ago, I thought it would be fun to go. Then I started looking at package costs, and thought it was too expensive. Dad (bless his heart) liked the idea and is springing for the cost for Mom and I.
We drive to Canton on a Friday, the HOF ceremony is Saturday, the football game is Sunday, and come home on Monday. Our package includes tickets to the ceremony and game, tickets to the Pro football Hall of Fame, tickets to the Rock and Roll Museum, and three nights in a hotel.

Lismullin Henge, Tara, Ireland
Technically, a post about Tara in Ireland really isn't about WNY, but many a WNYer has Irish roots. I ran across an article on Archaeology Today's website listing it's top 10 Discoveries of 2007. One that caught my eye was about the discovery of an Iron Age ceremonial enclosure (henge) near Tara, the spiritual home of the ancient Irish kings. The site is in danger from a proposed highway. Hopefully this treasure won't be paved over. Here's the website http://www.archaeology.org/0801/topten/tara.html

Diet Progress
Linda, our Weight Watcher's leader, would yell at me for calling it a diet and remind me that it's a lifestyle change. Of course it is, but "Diet Progress" makes a much better title for my blog post.
I gained a little over 2 pounds over the holidays, but have lost most of it already. I had slacked on the "write down everything you eat" part for most of December. But now I'm back doing it. I've lost nearly 20 lbs since I started WW, and feel much better, but I'd like to lose another 20 to 25.
The next thing I need to do is to start doing some type of exercise. We have a work out room where I work, so that would be the most convenient and also, as an added bonus, not cost me anything. I think I'll put a pair of shorts, shirt, sneakers, and socks, along with my MP3 player, in a bag and take it to work on Monday. I will try riding the stationary bike three times a week for half an hour each time. That should be a pretty attainable goal. Now all I have to do it put some new tunes on the MP3 player!

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all got what you wished for! My BIL came over for Christmas dinner earlier today. He couldn't stay long because he has to work tonight.
I uploaded some of my videos to YouTube this morning. My camera will take video, and although I would transfer them to my computer, I really didn't share them, as worrying about format, etc was too much hassle. Then it occurred to me to use YouTube, as they transfer the format to Flash. So I registered for an account and uploaded my vids from Greece and one of Emma when she was 2. It was pretty easy. You can find my videos here: http://www.youtube.com/kathy1865
I can even embed videos in my blog. Here's one of Meteora, famous for it's rock top monasteries.
Tomorrow is back to work, I've enjoyed my six days off. It's also back to Weight Watchers and counting points again. I've let things slide due to the holidays, but don't want to let things get to far out of hand.

Weather!
Western New York is noted for it's weather. Most people automatically think of snow, but the past two days have been typical for the weird weather we can get.
Yesterday started with rain. Lots of it. And wind. The rain came down in buckets and the wind pushed it sideways. The Bills were playing at home yesterday, and the weather was on display for all to see. The temperatures started the day in the 40's. During the game, a cold front came through. There was a period of a few minutes in the first half where it looked like somebody turned the faucet on all the way. Then the temperature started dropping. The wind kept up, the rain turned to hail, then to snow.
This morning it's 28 degrees, snowy, and still windy. I'm listening to the police scanner and hearing reports of accidents and whiteouts. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere today and have sympathy for those that do.

A Busy Week
We're heading into the Christmas stretch. I finished up my shopping this morning and started wrapping the presents. Tomorrow we go to my son and daughter-in-law's house for our big family get together. We're bringing appetizers but I'll pick them up in the morning as I don't have space in the refrigerator to store perishables.
I went to their house yesterday to help clean. I washed windows, cleaned two bathrooms, cleaned one of the girl's rooms, washed the kitchen cupboard fronts, mopped the playroom floor, and dusted. I was exhausted!
Tonight is the first game of a home and home series between the Sabres and the Flyers. It's the return of Danny Briere and Marty Biron. It should be a good game.
